Facebook Backtracks Giving Apps Your Address, Phone Number
Around Silicon Valley, it's well known that if users aren't paying for a service, they are the product. No company demonstrates that better than Facebook, which doesn't charge any of its 650 million users, but is still worth north of $50 billion. That's because you and all of your data are the product, access to which Facebook grants to software developers. (For those who don't want to do the math, each Facebook user is worth a bit more than $80 to the company).
