Lasers Control Nematode Worms Like Robots
A dot of laser light in a new system can make a tiny nematode worm turn left, freeze or lay an egg. Called CoLBeRT for "Controlling Locomotion and Behavior in Real Time," the system allows scientists to pick apart complicated behaviors on a cell-by-cell basis.
